Choosing the right farm trailer tires

Choosing the right farm trailer tires

You should not fit just any tires to your agricultural trailer. You need them to be able to deliver certain performances to optimize your farming activities. What trailer tires can we offer to optimize the performance? The answer is in this article.

Performance expectations for ag trailer tires

Your trailer is important for farming, so you expect the tires to work well.

You need strong implement trailer tires to safely and smoothly transport your trailer to the fields for optimal performance.

Not just that, but they must also be capable of carrying heavy loads while respecting the soil.

Aside from optimal performance in the field, the tires on your trailer need to be self-cleaning so they can quickly, when you leave the field, your agricultural trailer tires need to self-clean quickly before you get on the road. Not to mention longevity: farm trailer tires should wear slowly enough so that you don't have to change them frequently.

Finally, as you move from the field to the road, and vice versa, you need a tire that delivers optimal performance on both terrains without having to manually adjust the tire pressure.

For these reasons, Michelin has developed the Michelin TRAILXBIB tire.

How does this tire meet all your needs for your tractor’s trailer? Read below to learn more.

A reliable and efficient asset for your trailer

At Michelin, we take your needs very seriously and when it comes to your tractor’s trailer tire needs, we've developed a tire to meet those needs. Here's what the Michelin TRAILXBIB tire is designed for:

1 - Good traction and soil protection

The Michelin TRAILXBIB tire is equipped with Michelin UltraFlex VF technology. This technology allows the tire to operate at low pressure in the field, increasing the surface area of the tire on the ground. This improves traction and respects the soil by limiting compaction.

2 - It resists damage and reduces the risk of punctures

The Michelin TRAILXBIB tire has a new VF (Very High Flexion) casing which, at low pressure, gives it greater resistance to damages. This improved endurance reduces the risk of punctures so that your farm activities are not interrupted by unintended damage or issues.

3 - It can carry heavy loads

The metal crown plies inside the Michelin TRAILXBIB tire reinforces it and gives it excellent load-carrying capacity. This allows your trailer to carry heavy loads.

4 - It self-cleans easily

The Michelin TRAILXBIB's curved lug tread pattern and wide, divergent inter-lugs help to evacuate soil better when you leave the field. The trailer tire cleans itself simply by driving.

5 - It lasts longer

The unique tread design, especially the central rib, improves the tire’s longevity. This saves you money because you won't have to replace it as often.

6 - It saves you fuel costs

This same design limits rolling resistance, reducing your fuel consumption to the minimum needed, thereby enabling you to see significant fuel savings all year round.

7 - Its pressure can be controlled by CTIS

The Michelin TRAILXBIB tire is compatible with the Central Tire Inflation System (CTIS)*, which means you can control your trailer tire's pressure on the road and in the field.

Pressure is a key factor in your business because, when correctly adjusted according to use, it can lead to fuel savings that can considerably reduce your costs over the year.

With the CTIS installed, a compressor on the trailer is connected by cables to the tractor, allowing you to easily adjust the pressure of your trailer tires as well as those of the tractor without moving from your cab.

*CTIS is only available in certain countries. Ask your dealer for further information.
