DIAMOND TREAD PATTERN

What is Michelin Diamond Tread Pattern Technology?

MICHELIN DIAMOND TREAD PATTERN

MICHELIN DIAMOND TREAD PATTERN

The exclusive B² technology from Michelin makes the bead area more robust and therefore designed to increase the service life of the tires in mines and quarries, but also in construction and handling operations. Tires with this technology have a wide metal bead wire that increases the area in contact with the rim. The strength of the bead area is enhanced and there are fewer rotations on the rim.

What are the Benefits of Diamond Tread Pattern Technology?

TRACTION

With the Michelin diamond tread pattern, 44%1 of the tread is always in contact with hard surfaces, while with a bar tread pattern, only 29%1 of the tread is always in contact. This larger contact area provides exceptional traction, especially considering that two sections of lug are always in contact with the surface.

DURABILITY

With pressure evenly distributed across the tire surface, this design helps maintain stability on various terrains, resulting in enhanced robustness and wear resistance.

MATRIX SIPING

What is Michelin Matrix Siping Technology?

This technology refers to Michelin's innovative interlocking 3-dimensional matrix siping with zig-zag walls, which lock together when in contact with the road.

What are the Benefits of Matrix Siping?

IMPROVED WET AND SNOW TRACTION

For improved wet and snow traction, sipes provide hundreds of biting edges.

LONG-LASTING PERFORMANCE

The interlocking sipes add strength and stability normally associated with solid tread blocks to improve wear for longer-lasting performance.

REGENION TECHNOLOGY

What is Michelin Regenion Technology?

undefined Video

Michelin-patented Regenion technology, enabled by 3D metal printing techniques, provides solid grip over the tire’s lifetime, in all conditions. As the tire wears, new grooves emerge. The more compact and rigid tread pattern provides higher mileage, more consistent wear and lower fuel consumption.

Did you know? In 2018, the two Michelin engineers behind Regenion technology won the European Inventor Award in the industry category given by the European Patent Office (EPO).

What are the Benefits of Regenion Technology?

GRIP MILE AFTER MILE

New grooves open up as the tread wears for long lasting control in all weather conditions throughout the life of the tire.

HIGHER MILEAGE

The tread pattern is more rigid, leading to more consistent wear and longer mileage.

FUEL EFFICIENCY

Reduce the tire's fuel consumption thanks to compact tread designs which provide lower rolling resistance.

STUBBLE SHIELD

What is Michelin Stubble Shield?

Stubble Shield solution: an anti-stubble strip, oriented lugs that deflect stubble and rubber components that prolong the life of your agriculture tires.

Did you know? Our MICHELIN tires with Stubble Shield technology are identified with a dedicated pictogram.

What are the Benefits of Stubble Shield Technology?

DURABILITY

Tires with Stubble Shield technology provide extra protection against stubble damage and support tire lifespan.

PRODUCTIVITY

Agricultural tires with high resistance to damage from residual stubble. Reduced downtime caused by punctures, allowing you to ride confidently on any terrain.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT
MICHELIN TREAD TECHNOLOGY

Michelin’s tread innovations are engineered for traction, durability, and efficiency in every condition. Here are answers to some common questions about how these technologies work.

How do different tread patterns affect traction?

Tread patterns determine how the tire grips the road. For example, Michelin’s Diamond Tread Pattern increases the surface area in contact with the road, improving traction on hard surfaces, while specialized siping enhances grip in wet or snowy conditions.

What is the benefit of siping in tire tread?

Siping creates thin slits in the tread blocks that provide hundreds of biting edges. This improves traction on wet, icy, or snowy roads while helping to maintain tire flexibility in cold temperatures.

How does Michelin Regenion Technology improve tire longevity?

Regenion designs feature tread grooves that evolve as the tire wears, maintaining grip over the tire’s lifespan. This means longer-lasting traction and better fuel efficiency without sacrificing mileage.

Are Michelin tread technologies designed for specific applications?

Yes. Different tread designs are tailored for different uses. For example, Regenion is ideal for long-haul trucks, Matrix Siping is perfect for mixed climates, Diamond Tread Pattern excels on hard surfaces, and Stubble Shield is designed for agricultural tires.

How do Michelin tread designs help with fuel efficiency?

Certain tread patterns, such as those in Regenion Technology, are engineered with compact, rigid designs that lower rolling resistance, helping to reduce fuel consumption.
