How to Find Compatible Rims, Inner Tubes and Valves
Choosing compatible components starts with the information provided for your agricultural tire. Tire size, rim specifications and whether the tire is designed for tubeless or tube-type use can help you identify the appropriate components.
Finding the Right Rim
Start with the tire size and its rim specifications. For example, the R in a tire size such as 540/65 R30 indicates radial construction, while 30 identifies the tire's nominal rim diameter in inches.
The rim diameter must correspond with the tire size, but diameter alone does not determine compatibility. Rim width and profile must also be appropriate for the tire. Check the recommended and approved rim information in the tire's technical specifications before selecting a rim.
Some multi-piece rims also require an O-ring to provide a seal. Refer to Michelin technical documentation for the appropriate rim dimensions, profiles and O-ring specifications for your application.
Finding the Right Inner Tube
Agricultural tire specifications identify whether a tire is tubeless (TL) or tube type (TT). Michelin agricultural tires are manufactured as tubeless tires, but an appropriate inner tube may be used when required for the application.
Compatible inner tube references can be found in Michelin technical documentation using the tire size and corresponding tube information.
Finding the Right Valve
Once the appropriate inner tube has been identified, use its reference to determine the compatible valve. Valve specifications vary by application, including differences in shape, length and valve-hole diameter.
Tubeless tires and air/water applications may use different valve configurations, so refer to the technical specifications for the appropriate valve for your tire and rim assembly.
Already have a rim? Before fitting a new tire, confirm that your existing rim is approved for that tire size and specification. If you're unsure about compatibility, consult your Michelin tire dealer.
