HOW MANY MORE LOADS COULD YOU MOVE AT YOUR MINE WITH THE 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4 ** TIRES?

In our simulation3, the loader with the 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4 ** tires arrives at its destination 1 hour and 20 minutes sooner than the loader with the competitor tires. Imagine how this extra loading time can increase mining productivity!

protection wear resistance

EXCELLENT PROTECTION & WEAR RESISTANCE

  • The casing is made from a single radial layer of steel cables and original tread depth is 8% deeper.4
  • The crown is stabilized by a belt package construction that comprises several layers of metallic plies.
  • Sidewall and tread bands work independently resulting in reduced surface deformation.

longer tire life image

longer tire life

LONGER TIRE LIFE2

  • Lasts at least 50% longer on the front axle at customer sites.2
  • Runs cooler for increased tire endurance.5
  • Radial construction provides tire strength and protection.

better wear performance

BETTER WEAR PERFORMANCE2

  • Reduced treadwear
  • Optimized, even wear footprint
  • Less deformation of the contact patch on the ground
  • Exceptional adhesion and traction

As a result of these benefits, chain fitment is not required on the rear axle.

CARAJÁS MINE BOOSTS PRODUCTIVITY WITH THE
70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4 ** TIRE.

“The Carajás mine is a very large geographic area. Strategically, we need to be able to move these machines around according to the daily production schedule,” said Frederico Sá, Carajás Mine Tire Manager, Brazil, who tested the 70/70R57 MICHELIN X MINE tires on their site. “Radial tires improve mobility so we can work more and have more options and better mobility with our machines onsite. This benefit will be captured according to our production strategy.”

THE FIRST RADIAL DESIGN FOR THE WORLD'S LARGEST WHEEL LOADER

The 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4 ** tire is the first radial tire constructed for the Komatsu WE2350/P&H L2350 large wheel loader.

ADVANTAGES OF RADIAL CONSTRUCTION

This large wheel loader tire:

  • Offers metallic cables through radial construction for tire strength and protection.
  • Provides robust resistance to crown impact and aggression damage.

A COOLER RUNNING TIRE5

The 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4** tire runs cooler than the competition, thanks to the radial construction and tire compounds that keep the tire at an optimal temperature even at greater speeds.5 The tire’s internal chamber runs 10 °C cooler than the competitor on the front axle.5

A cool running mining equipment tire helps improve:

1. Productivity
2. Tire life
3. Endurance
4. Safety

IMPROVED OPERATOR EXPERIENCE

Radial construction is designed to absorb obstacles for a more comfortable ride.6 Even without chains, the 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4** tire meets traction performance standards on wet and dry surfaces.

“When I was operating the equipment yesterday and today [without chains on the rear tires], I didn't notice any problems at all [with the 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® tires] in relation to the ground or the machine. It all worked well. Today, for example, I was on a good surface which was quite dry, adding weight, and it didn't negatively affect my work at all. Yesterday I worked on a slightly wet surface, believe it or not, but I didn't have any problems either with no chains on the rear.”

A MORE SUSTAINABLE TIRE

With a 50% or better wear rate, the longer lasting 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4** tires lead to fewer scrap tires.2 Plus, the metal casing of the radial tire offers a high rate of recyclable materials. Just another way Michelin is creating mining sustainability solutions.

3Simulation only. Assuming loader productivity rated at 2,500 tons in an hour, and tramming distance of 8km, and based on the Firestone® Technical Bulletin reference number BATO-OTR-TB-002-160719, using ambient temperature of 38° C and greater than (>) 5km tramming distance. Loader with 70/70-57 Firestone® SRG DT LD L4 bias ply tires takes 2 hours to cover the distance at 4km/hr, and loader with 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4 ** tires takes 40 minutes at 12 km/hr.

4 The 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4 ** tire’s original tread depth is 8% deeper at 99 mm vs. 92 mm for the 70/70-57 Firestone bias ply tire SRG DT LD L4, according to Off-the-Road Product Data Book Firestone Version 20.0.

5Based on customer data from tire pressure monitoring systems measuring the internal air chamber temperature of the 70/70R57 MICHELIN® X MINE® L4 ** tire and the 70/70-57 Firestone® SRG DT LD L4 bias tire where vehicles had equivalent tramming distance and operated under the same conditions. Actual results may vary.
