B2 TECHNOLOGY

What is Michelin B2 Technology?

MICHELIN B2

MICHELIN B2

The exclusive B² technology from Michelin makes the bead area more robust and therefore designed to increase the service life of the tires in mines and quarries, but also in construction and handling operations. Tires with this technology have a wide metal bead wire that increases the area in contact with the rim. The strength of the bead area is enhanced and there are fewer rotations on the rim.

What are the Benefits of B Technology?

PRODUCTIVITY

The 30% wider bead bundle and contact area improves the clamping force to the wheel and pressure distribution, allowing up to 20% more torque* through the tire/rim interface.

LONGEVITY

Strong durability of the bead zone provides greater endurance in high torque, heavy load applications, helping you reduce operating costs and limit waste and raw materlal usage

RELIABILITY

The optimized  and reinforced bead design helps increase total tire life and uptime, while also improvingthe angle and contact points of the bead during the mounting process.

What are the Benefits of DURACORE Technology?

DURABILITY

By combining the stability of Michelin INFINICOIL technology in conjunction with the strength and endurance of Michelin POWERCOIL technology in the body ply, tires with innovative Michelin DURACORE casings are built to go the distance. The result is casings that deliver durability you can count on and confidence in your daily fleet operations.

TOTAL COST OF OWNERSHIP

Casings with this technology are designed for extended mileage potential, helping reduce the frequency and cost of tire replacements. They also deliver efficiencies across multiple lives, with optimized mileage and fuel performance that help lower your total cost of ownership.

SMART SAVINGS

By extending the life of your casings, this technology helps you buy fewer tires over time, reducing waste while keeping costs under control. Each replacement avoided reduces material waste and supports efficiency across your operations.

INFINICOIL TECHNOLOGY

What is Michelin INFINICOIL Technology?

undefined Video

A continuous steel wire up to 400 meters long is wrapped around the tire to enhance its stability over its lifespan. The tire's increased durability at higher load capacities or under more demanding conditions results in enhanced fuel efficiency and greater casing mileage potential.

What are the Benefits of INFINICOIL Technology?

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Enhanced stability provides lower deformation and heat dissipation, meaning you consume less fuel.

CASING DURABILITY

Michelin INFINICOIL reinforces the tire casing, increasing its durability, so much so that it can be retread multiple times.

LONGEVITY

With enhanced casing mileage potential, you can go further for your business and the planet.

NRF TECHNOLOGY

What is Michelin NRF Technology?

Michelin NRF technology is designed for aggressive conditions such as rocks and debris, that is unique to underground mining.

The NRF technology provides a resistance to these harsh conditions through:

  • Two additional plies added to the tire structure which contain nylon cords cross-woven throughout the rubber for more resistance and durability.
  • New cables in the working plies for enhanced resistance to impacts and give the right protection against oxidation.

What are the Benefits of NRF Technology?

DURABILITY

This technology enhances the tire's durability, improving impact resistance and protecting against oxidation.

LONG-LASTING RELIABILITY

With more resistance and durability,  have peace of mind in the extreme conditions of underground mining.

LESS DOWNTIME

Tires with NRF technology are designed to require less maintenance time because of their durability.

OPTICOIL TECHNOLOGY

What is Michelin OPTICOIL Technology?

undefined Video

OPTICOIL is a new patented Michelin technology for improved material efficiency. The layout and composition of the materials in the bead area have been completely reworked, offering a thinner design and distinctive curve and allowing for less tire mass but the same durability. OPTICOIL is usually combined with DURACOIL technology for bead area reinforcement and improved robustness.

What are the Benefits of OPTICOIL Technology?

DECREASED RAW MATERIAL CONSUMPTION

OPTIMIZED GLOBAL PAYLOAD

With this new technology, between 1.5 lbs and 3.3 lbs of raw materials are saved per tire, no matter the position or dimension.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT
MICHELIN CASING TECHNOLOGY

Why is casing technology important for fleets?

The casing forms the structural foundation of the tire. A stronger casing improves durability, supports multiple retreads, and helps reduce downtime, all of which contribute to lower operating costs for fleets.

How does casing technology affect retreadability?

High-quality casings maintain their shape and strength through multiple service cycles. Michelin’s casing innovations are engineered to preserve structural integrity, allowing many tires to be retreaded more than once for extended value.

Which Michelin casing technology is best for extreme conditions?

For the harshest environments, such as underground mining, NRF Technology offers multiple layers of reinforced nylon cords to resist impacts, cuts, and abrasion. Other solutions, like B2 and Duracoil, also provide enhanced robustness for heavy-duty use.

How can casing innovations reduce operating costs?

Advanced casing designs reduce premature failures, improve fuel efficiency, and extend tire life. These benefits help fleets get more service hours from each tire and reduce the need for replacements, lowering the total cost of ownership.

Are Michelin casing technologies compatible with all tire types?

Each technology is designed for specific tire applications, from long-haul trucking to mining and agriculture. Many innovations are available across multiple Michelin tire lines, ensuring fleets can match the right casing technology to their operational needs.
